Happy New Year!

I spent last night with my sisters and their families at our Christmas celebration. I've been to my sister's house many times but I'd never been there in the dark or by bus. So what better way to get there than to take the bus in the dark? I got all the bus directions and everything but didn't actually write down my sister's address. I knew the house number but it turns out that I didn't know which avenue the house was on or that if I made it too the transit center, I was too far north.

So when I got to the transit center and the bus started going south again, somehow I thought I was too far south, so I got off the bus and started walking north. I walked for about 20 minutes north, realized that nothing was familiar, and started walking back south again to the transit center. By that time I was lost, I was cold, and I was starting to get scared. So here I was, walking down this road whimpering to myself while people were driving past and shouting "Happy New Year" at me. I was feeling too lost and scared to even swear at them so each time I kind of meekly said "happy new year" to each one.

Fortunately, I made it back to the transit center and remembered my sister's number (after a couple of tries) so that her husband could come and pick me up. I was a bit late and a bit cold but that was ok; I still had a great time and was there to bring in the new year.

I was also able to take the bus back with no problems, now that I knew where I was :)

Here's hoping that 2011 is a much less stressful year, and that it's filled with peace, happiness, love, and good health for all of us.
