While I'm here in Edmonton I'm making an effort to see all of my friends because it's been a really, really long time since I was here on a social or vacation-type visit. Re-connecting with my friends has definitely been the highlight of this trip... seeing them again reinforces why we're friends and why our friendships have lasted as long as they have. It's funny how we've been able to just pick up where we left off the last time we got together.
Most evenings this week I'll be spending some time with my niece and nephews. I haven't seen them in ages, either, and I want to get to know them better. They're getting older and it means a lot to me to stay a part of their lives.
I'd hoped to go out and see a movie tonight but I woke up at 4am with pinkeye. Because of all the stress I've been under together with the traveling, I've been more prone to getting sick. I've been trying hard to take care of myself and to not overdo it but the pinkeye showed up anyway. I picked up some on-the-shelf antibacterial eyedrops and if they don't fix the problem in a couple of days I'll go to a walk-in medical clinic here.
In the meantime, the pinkeye makes my eye sensitive to light and movement (and I feel kind of icky) so I'm going to take it easy tonight before the next few days.
