Aliens on tv

You know, I do love a good alien story/show/movie - almost as much as I love zombies. Tonight was an awesome night because V, a re-imagining of a show about aliens coming to this planet, premiered. I'm not that familiar with the original miniseries or regular show, but that's ok because I'll appreciate the new show for what it is.

Having aliens suddenly appear overhead with promises of curing all that ails us - well, that would be hard to resist, wouldn't it? I know I'd have a really hard time not accepting a cure for cancer if one were offered, even if it meant that I had to give in to them or that I had to bend certain of my principles to do it.

Then again, if a person was skeptical (and I am), it would be hard to believe that the aliens look just like us, speak all of our languages - even using contractions!, know where the major cities were (including the location of the UN headquarters), and know about human diseases... right when they got here. All of that knowledge can't be gotten in a couple of days, so the aliens would have had to have been watching the planet for quite some time. Which sort of begs the question as to why chose to reveal themselves when they did... and what they were going to get out of the deal. They went to a lot of trouble... for what?

I don't want to give any more information about what happened on the opening episode because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't yet seen it. I'm interested in seeing how this show plays out.

In other unrelated tv show news, I was pleased to see the CSIs on the original CSI show wearing gloves and booties when they walked through the victim's house. Now if they would only show them wearing hasmat suits, it would be closer to the truth and I'd be even happier.

Doesn't little stuff like that in the movies bother you? I know it does me. I will sit there picking it apart sometimes it is so ridiculous. Everything all wrapped up nice and tight in an hour, lol.

Oh yeah - when things don't make sense, I notice them. If I like other parts of the movie or show I can sometimes let it go. If I don't like the show or movie, then the people around me will start hearing from me about all the little things that don't make sense.

I remember V in its first incarnation but I watched last night too. I wish they would have made it into a longish movie instead of a series though.
